As a post-war "Baby Boomer", I'm a hop-step-and-jump from retiring from the permanent workforce. But guess what? I won't really be retiring as I now have a weekly affiliate income ... I'll be refocusing. I hate the word 'retire'. To me it seems like finishing work and hanging around waiting for the Grim Reaper. Not me. I'm giving full time work away to help my daughter with my grandson and to continue earning a healthy affiliate income in just a few hours work each week. |

In fact, I started setting up alternative sources of income, including affiliate income, several years ago. Every month now, I check my affiliate and other income figures and I'm well ahead. The fears I once held about my government pension check not being enough have gone. Now I'll have a healthy income ... for life! The only outgoings I will have in future are to keep myself and wife in food, clothing, petrol, red wine, the occasional trip away, dinner out or the cinema, and taxes like motor vehicle registration and house rates. Our income will come from our government superannuation pensions, perhaps a day or two of paid work here and there, and a weekly affiliate income which is getting bigger every week.
In Australia it is said that an income of $35,000 AUD will provide a comfortable retirement income for someone who owns a house.
That's fine as a mininum, but I want to be able to take holidays away occasionally and not have to worry about money. So I want $55,000 to $60,000. With a combination of my monthly pension check, affiliate income and earnings from e-books I sell online, I'll achieve my target. If I work for more than three or four hours per week, I may actually exceed that amount.
